CS Students’ Online Club (CSoC), the first ever online network for CS fraternity proposes to include a new segment in the Club for motivating budding corporate professionals. 

The new segment titled ‘Success Stories’ will include articles/write-ups/interviews/discussion papers etc. of Successful CS in India & Abroad. The objective of the segment is to show a positive road map for budding professionals, and to make them excel in their thinking and confidence. 

Members who have achievements / reference of achievers in their career as: 

A Consultant, Share Broker etc.;

Setting-up of firms;

Teachers / Visiting Faculties to Institute etc.;

Writing & Publishing Books;

Managing Companies as a CS / ED / CEO / MD etc.

Who had set-up business as entrepreneurs in India / Abroad;

Who had secured All India Rank in Exams;

Who are excellent in other fields such as Sports, Cultural, etc.

The Singapore Association of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (SAICSA) is a division of ICSA and comprises members, graduates and registered students of the Institute residing in Singapore.

Our members are in public listed and private limited companies, corporate secretarial firms, legal practices, international accounting firms, tertiary institution, civil service and government regulatory bodies.

One of the aims of the Association is to promote and advance efficient administration in the corporate world and industry through the development of the study and practice in chartered secretaryship and professional administration.

SAICSA MISSION:

To promote the highest standards in Chartered Secretaryship and to represent and support the Profession.

SAICSA OBJECTIVES ARE:

  • To qualify people as Chartered Secretaries in accordance with a comprehensive and relevant scheme of examination, practical experience and continuing professional development;
  • To set and promulgate the highest standards of propriety and best practice in the Profession;
  • To raise the profile of the Profession through an increased awareness of the contributions made by Chartered Secretaries in all types of organisation;
  • To provide high quality support in secretaryship to both organisations and individuals.

Recognition has been accorded to Chartered Secretaries in Singapore in:

Companies Act (Cap. 50) Section 171 (1) (1A) (1AA) (c):

171.

(1) Every company shall have one or more secretaries each of whom shall be a natural person who has his principal or only place of residence in Singapore.

(1A) It shall be the duty of the directors of a company to take all reasonable steps to secure that each secretary of the company is a person who appears to them to have the requisite knowledge and experience to discharge the functions of secretary of the company.

(1AA) In addition, it shall be the duty of the directors of a public company to take all reasonable steps to secure that each secretary of the company is a person who ­

(c) is a qualified person under the Legal Profession Act (Cap. 161), a public accountant, a member of the Singapore Association of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, or a member of such other professional association as may be prescribed; ……”

Business Trust Act (Cap 31A) Section 7 (1) (b):

“7. ­(1) The trustee-manager of a registered business trust shall ensure that its secretary is a person who ­ (b) is a qualified person under the Legal Profession Act (Cap. 161), a public accountant, a member of the Singapore Association of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators or a member of such other professional association as may be prescribed; …”
